Whole House Renovation / New Build, Kings Bromley, Staffordshire

Creation of a new modern detached family home in this popular Staffordshire village

Whole House Renovation / New Build – 4 Bedroom Detached House

The project brief was to design a whole house renovation / new build property and because the plot is located in a conservation area the strict rules of Lichfield District Council applied, hence we designed a house of two halves, traditional at the front and modern at the rear.

The original property dated from the 1950-60s and was run down, poorly constructed and therefore in need of extensive refurbishment, but the cost of this together with extending was uneconomical, subsequently, the decision was made to demolish the existing house in order to take advantage of the zero-rated VAT for new residential buildings.

The large glazed sliding doors make use of the south facing light that serves the large open plan kitchen and dining spaces and above the master bedroom with a balcony overlooking the rear garden.  A modern splayed zinc dormer window adds some character together with the burnt timber cladding.

The new house was built by one of our recommended building contractors Southbank Building & Development Ltd.
