This property was in need of restoration as it had been severely neglected and yet it is in a conservation area which sets higher standards than normal, meaning that any work proposed would be subject to being scrutinised by the planning department and conservation officers to ensure that the correct design, materials, restoration methods amongst others, so that the property character remains or is enhanced.

The brief was also to construct a 2 storey extension on the property to provide a modern family environment, a larger kitchen/dining space that would benefit from the views across the large garden, and to provide more bedroom accommodation, preferably with improved bathing and ensuite facilities.

The house was a former Rectory and is in an area of special interest and is therefore subject to Conservation rules and regulations, needless to say, the restoration and the architecture had to be carefully considered.
